Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell (born 25th August, 1949) is an American TV chef personality. Burrell was also an instructor for the Institute of Culinary Education. She hosts Secrets of a Restaurant Chef at the Food Network. With her trademark spiky blond hair and bubbly personality Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of restaurant dishes and reveals simple, easy-to-learn techniques for the at-home cook on her Food Network series Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell is also a part of some of the top restaurants located in New York, studied the culinary landscape and traditions of Italy as well as competed in the Food Network's Iron Chef America. As a youngster, growing up in the upstate area of New York, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. Following her graduation with an English and Communication degree at Canisius College in Buffalo NY she pursued her passion for the restaurant business by enrolling at The Culinary Institute of America. The Culinary Institute of America is where I spent the most fun time of my life. It was difficult to master and do enough or put in the hours. After graduating, Burrell spent one year learning at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners as well as working at Umbria's La Taverna del Lupo as and Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, a Michelin-starred restaurant. Her time spent in Italy helped her to understand and appreciate the Italian tradition and philosophy, and has made an impact on her own food and culinary experience. Burrell has been a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board to brighten the lives of kids facing difficulties. She is also a Juvenile Research Foundation Celebrity ambassador which promotes the awareness of the condition known as juvenile diabetes. She travels frequently around the United States in her position as a mentor as well as a guest speaker where she discusses her career and love of cooking. Anne often has mentioned throughout her culinary career she is incredibly fortunate to communicate with people what is essential to her.
